CALOOCAN City once again finds itself in the national spotlight — and for all the right reasons.
Under Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan, the city has continued to strengthen its reputation for purposeful, disciplined and people-centered governance.
Rather than relying on rhetoric or publicity, Caloocan’s progress is reflected in a consistent stream of recognition that affirm a local government treating public service as both duty and daily practice.
This year’s multiple honors from the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s Urban Exemplar Awards highlight that momentum.
Caloocan ranked among the top performers in public safety initiatives, anti-trafficking programs, and efforts focused on protecting women and children.
The city was also cited for its strong coordination with the peace and order council and anti-drug abuse council — partnerships essential to maintaining safe, stable and resilient communities.
Additional commendations for its functionality in child protection councils, compliance with the Manila Bay rehabilitation efforts, and the high performance of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in the 2025 Local Legislative Awards further underscore the breadth of its achievements.
These distinctions do not appear overnight. They stem from a governance culture that Mayor Malapitan has steadily shaped — one that prioritizes discipline, inter-agency collaboration and consistent follow-through.
City officials frequently point to the mayor’s leadership style, noting how he empowers public servants to deliver concrete results while encouraging residents to take part in the city’s continuous progress.
Caloocan’s strong showings in past Seal of Good Local Governance assessments, often highlighted by local observers, likewise reflect a leadership model grounded in consistency and commitment.
