MANILA, Philippines- Magbibigay ang International Criminal Court (ICC) ng bayad-pinsala sa mga biktima ng krimen kapag nahatulang guilty ang isang akusado, base sa ulat.
Batay sa video explainer ng ICC, kabilang dito ang pagbibigay ng monetary compensation, rehabilitasyon, o medical support.
Dahil dito, maaaring i-freeze ng ICC ang assets ng akusado habang gumugulong ang paglilitis.
“In many cases, the impact of the crime can be immense, and the guilty person doesn’t have enough financial resources to compensate for the potentially large number of victims,” wika ng ICC.
“This is why states have also created a trust fund for victims, financed by voluntary contributions, to assist in executing the reparations ordered by the judges,” dagdag nito.
Kasalukuyang nakaditine si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa The Hague, Netherlands habang nakabinbin ang paglilitis sa crimes against humanity sa mga pagpatay noong drug war.
Humarap sa ICC sa unang pagkakataon si Duterte noong nakaraang linggo sa pamamagitan ng video conference.
