MANILA, Philippines – Ipinag-utos ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang implementasyon ng four-day workweek at iba pang energy conservation measures.
Ito ay kasunod ng anunsyo ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na pansamantalang ipatutupad ang four-day workweek sa mga opisina sa ilalim ng executive department kasunod ng tensyon sa Middle East.
Ayon sa MMDA Memorandum Circular No. 05, series of 2026, sakop ng bagong work schedule na magsisimula bukas, Marso 9, ang “selected personnel performing support functions within the MMDA New Building in Pasig City.”
Binibigyang mandato ng iskedyul ang mga empleyado na magtrabaho ng 10 oras sa isang araw mula Lunes hanggang Huwebes para makumpleto ang 40-working-hour mandate.
Itatalagang non-working days o rest days naman ang araw ng Biyernes, Sabado, at Linggo para sa mga apektadong empleyado.
Babayaran naman ang overtime service para sa mga sosobra sa inilaan na working hours, hindi kasama ang Sabado o holiday.
Sinabi ng MMDA na ang prescribed working hours na 7 a.m. hanggang 6 p.m. ay sumusunod sa mga polisiya ng Civil Service Commission kaugnay sa flexible o alternative work arrangements para sa mga empleyado.
“This arrangement aims to optimize the use of office facilities, reduce energy consumption, and promote a more efficient and sustainable work environment while ensuring that the agency’s mandates and services to the public remain uninterrupted,” saad sa memorandum circular.
Samantala, sinabi rin ng MMDA na ang air conditioners sa mga opisina ay dapat panatilihin sa thermostat setting na 24°C, at ang mga ilaw at non-essential electrical equipment ay papatayin tuwing lunch break.
Hindi naman sakop ng arragement ang mga tauhan na nagsasagawa ng essential, field, operational, o emergency response functions sa labas ng MMDA Main Building, at sa mga tauhan sa ilalim ng Operations Monitoring and Control Group—Metrobase at No Physical Contact Policy Program (NPCCP).
Suspendido rin ang shuttle services, maliban sa rutang C-5, Pasig City patungong EDSA (SM Megamall) at pabalik. RNT/JGC
