MANILA, Philippines- Inihayag ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) nitong Martes na ang natitirang “weakened” guerilla front ng New People’s Army (NPA) ay hindi na makapagsasagawa ng anumang major operations sa bansa.
Sa isang press conference, sinabi ni AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Padilla na ang military organization ay “well within targets” sa pagbuwag sa guerilla fronts, binanggit na bumaba ang weakened units mula sa pito sa isa na lamang ngayong taon.
“At this point po, there is only one weakened guerilla front and more and more municipalities and areas are already declaring an insurgency-free status,” pahayag ni Padilla.
“As they have already been weakened, the guerilla front, they are no longer capable of staging major operations. Also, meron na rin silang [they also have] leadership vacuum and they are also not capable of recruiting any more additional personnel into their ranks,” patuloy niya.
