NAVOTAS City Mayor John Rey Tiangco has partnered with the Department of Science and Technology and Technological University of the Philippines for the deployment of the Aqua Trash Collector Bot.
Developed by TUP and funded by DOST, the aquabot is a remote-controlled vessel designed for the efficient collection of solid waste in small bodies of water, such as creeks and canals.
“The deployment of the aquabot represents a concrete step towards cleaner waterways. I urge every Navoteño to support this initiative and take an active role in keeping our city clean and sustainable,” he said.
Interns, ex-OFWs working at City Hall
The city government has once again opened its doors to Navoteño youth who wish to earn work experience in government, and former Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are in need of alternative livelihood.
Some 22 beneficiaries of its apprenticeship program would serve until November 29, 2024.
Also, 24 Navoteños, former OFWs who’re repatriated and haven’t renewed their contract abroad since 2022, were also employed at the City Hall.
“Our apprentices and returning OFWs bring fresh perspectives and invaluable experience to our city government,” Tiangco said.
Cash incentives for public school graduates
In time for Navotas’ 17th cityhood anniversary, it gave out incentives to 5,008 Grade 6 and 2,276 Grade 12 completers that ranged from P500 and P1,000 cash grants.
Navotas Polytechnic College graduates also received P1,500 after their graduation ceremony this year.
“These incentives are a testament to our commitment to nurturing your potential.”
“We are always here to support you,” the mayor added.
212 Navoteñaos hired on the spot
The recent mega job fair, also part of Navotas’ 17th cityhood anniversary celebration, had some 212 residents getting hired on the spot out of over 300 applicants.
The event also served as a one-stop-shop for those needing services from various government agencies including Philippine Statistics Authority, Pag-IBIG, Social Security System and PhilHealth.
Tiangco reaffirmed the city’s dedication to continuous support for employment and livelihood assistance programs.
“We are committed to creating opportunities for employment and livelihood for every Navoteño.”
