MANILA, Philippines — Bumuo ang National Bureau of Investigation ng “Task Force Cash Cow” upang imbestigahan ang umano’y mga iregularidad na kinasasangkutan ng bilyun-bilyong pisong pondong inilipat sa pribadong organizing body ng 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Sinabi ni NBI Director Melvin Matibag noong Huwebes na batay sa mga paunang dokumentong nakuha ng ahensiya, humigit-kumulang P6.7 bilyong pondo ng pamahalaan mula sa Department of Budget and Management, Philippine Sports Commission at Philippine Olympic Committee ang inilipat sa Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee o PHISGOC.
Saklaw ng imbestigasyon ang mga infrastructure project na may kaugnayan sa pagho-host ng Pilipinas sa regional sporting event.
Ayon kay Matibag, bubuuin ang task force ng “the Public Corruption Division, Special Action Unit and, of course, the Office of the Director and the field officers.”
Humingi na rin ang NBI ng tulong sa Commission on Audit, Securities and Exchange Commission at Bureau of Internal Revenue upang beripikahin ang mga paunang natuklasan nito.
“We’ll also ask the POC and PSC on this matter,” sinabi ni Matibag.
Pinalalawak din ng mga imbestigador ang financial review upang masaklaw ang iba pang pondong natanggap ng PHISGOC, kabilang ang mga posibleng nagmula sa pribadong sektor.
“That’s why we’ll be checking [Bureau of Internal Revenue] records, seeking the assistance of the COA and the SEC. They have to submit audited financial statements because they’re registered under SEC laws,” sinabi niya.
Ayon kay Matibag, maaaring lumampas sa P10 bilyon ang halagang isinasailalim sa imbestigasyon kapag isinama ang mga pondong nagmula sa pribadong sektor.
Nagpalabas na rin ang NBI ng subpoena laban sa humigit-kumulang pitong indibidwal, kabilang ang ilang miyembro ng PHISGOC Board of Directors.
