MANILA, Philippines – Nagpaalala ang hepe ng National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) sa lahat ng mga pulis sa Metro Manila na manatiling alerto sa posibleng mga pagkilos sa pag-usad ng impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ito ay kasunod ng pag-apruba ng Senate impeachment court sa withdrawal ng tatlong articles of impeachment laban kay Duterte.
Sa pahayag nitong Miyerkules, Oktubre 14, sinabi ni NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano na inalerto ang mga pulis para alamin ang posibleng security concerns at masiguro ang operational readiness “to respond promptly to any public assembly or gathering that may arise in their respective areas of responsibility.”
“Our responsibility is to ensure public safety and maintain peace and order while respecting the people’s constitutional right to peaceful assembly and expression,” saad sa pahayag ni Abrahano.
“I expect all our units to remain vigilant, prepared, and capable of responding to any situation with discipline and professionalism,” dagdag pa niya.
Inatasan din ang mga pulis na panatilihin ang maximum tolerance sa mga demontrasyon.
Ipinunto rin niya ang pagiging “strictly nonpartisan” dahil ang mga pulis ay dapat na “serve the Filipino people regardless of political affiliation.”
“We must remain neutral, uphold the rule of law, and perform our duties fairly, professionally, and without bias. Our role is not to take sides in political issues but to protect the public and ensure that the law is observed,” sinabi ni Abrahano.
Matapos ang impeachment trial nitong Martes, inaasahang magpapatuloy ang impeachment proceeding sa Nobyembre 9 kung saan ang depensa ay magpipresenta na ng ebidensya. RNT/JGC
