Nutritional, health services target ng DOH, NCIP sa 860K IPs

MANILA, Philippines – Mahigit 860,000 indigenous peoples (IPs) ang nakatakdang makatanggap ng nutritional services mula sa Department of Health (DOH) at National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

Target ng DOH at NCIP na magbigay ng nutritional at health services sa mahigit 860,000 IPS, sa paggigiit ng kahalagahan ng nutrisyon sa IP communities.

Sa pahayag nitong Miyerkules, Nobyembre 20, sinabi na ang DOH at NCIP ay tuminta ng kasunduan na mangangalaga sa nutrisyon ng IPs mula sa 13 rehiyon sa bansa.

“Through this memorandum of understanding, we can establish more the rights of the indigenous peoples and their communities, especially their rights to be given nutritional services that are appropriate for their culture,” saad sa pahayag ni NCIP Chairperson Jennifer Pia-Sibuglas.

Sinabi naman ni DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa ang mga IP ay dapat na may access sa pangunahing pangangailangan katulad ng nutrisyon.

“IP communities must receive public service that should be based on their culture. We have to ensure their health and access to proper nutrition even if they are living in remote places,” sinabi ni Herbosa. RNT/JGC
