MANILA, Philippines – Ibinenta ni Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste ang nasa 10.83 bilyong shares niya sa SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC) sa Manila Electric Company (Meralco) sa halagang P13.76 bilyon.
Ibinenta ni Leviste ang kanyang shares sa Meralco sa pamamagitan ng block sale sa Philippine Stock Exchange nitong Lunes, Oktubre 27, ayon sa wholly-owned Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings, Inc. ni Leviste.
“This fulfills the exchangeable note agreements executed between Meralco’s wholly-owned MGen Renewable Energy, Inc. and Leviste’s wholly-owned Solar Philippines Power Project Holdings, Inc. in September 2024 and March 2025, with the transaction now completed with the transfer of shares to Meralco,” saad sa pahayag ng Solar Philippines.
Noong Hunyo, sinabi ng SPNEC na pumasok si Leviste sa kasunduan na mag-divest ng malaking bahagi ng mga share nito sa kompanya bago umupo sa pwesto bilang mambabatas.
Nauna nang ibinenta ni Leviste ang kanyang 3.77 bilyong shares ng SPNEC sa Meralco sa halagang P4.50 billion, kung kaya’t umakyat na sa 14.61 bilyong shares ang total divestments ng mambabatas, na nagkakahalaga ng P18.26 bilyon.
“As a result, Meralco’s ownership in SPNEC has increased to 28.71 billion shares or 57.33% of SPNEC and Leviste’s ownership has decreased to 9.35 billion shares or 18.66% of the company’s common shares,” sinabi pa ng Solar Philippines.
Idinagdag pa na ginagamit ng mambabatas ang proceeds ng kanyang shares sa real estate, equity investments, at philanthropic activities.
Ang Meralco ay nakapag-invest na ng mahigit P34 bilyon sa SPNEC kabilang ang P15.90 bilyon sa primary shares para pondohan ang konstruksyon ng 3500 MW Terra Solar project sa Nueva Ecija. RNT/JGC
