MANILA, Philippines – Sa kabila ng mga alegasyon ng iregularidad dahil sa flood control scandal, sinabi ng Korte Suprema nitong Miyerkules, Oktubre 29 na magtatalaga ito ng special courts na tututok lamang sa mga kaso ng korapsyon na may kaugnayan sa infrastructure project ng pamahalaan.
“The SC En Banc has directed the OCA (Office of the Court Administrator) to monitor the filing of cases involving corruption in infrastructure projects before the Regional Trial Courts,” sinabi ng SC.
“Once such cases are filed, the SC will designate special courts to exclusively hear and decide corruption-related cases arising from infrastructure projects.”
Ang hakbang na ito ay kasunod ng utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na dapat ay magkaroon ng malakas na case build-up laban sa mga sangkot sa korapsyon.
Ipinunto ni Marcos na ang pamahalaan ay mayroon lamang isang pagkakataon para makapagsampa ng reklamo at mapanagot ang mga nasa likod ng ghost projects at mga substandard na proyekto.
Ayon kay Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon, posibleng umabot na sa trilyong piso ang nawawala sa pondo ng bayan sa maanomalyang flood control projects. RNT/JGC
