MANILA, Philippines – Kumakalap ng suporta si Senator Robin Padilla sa iba pang miyembro ng Senate committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality upang pigilan ang paglalabas ng warrant of arrest laban kay Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Apollo Quiboloy.
Unang ibinahagi ni Senator Francis Tolentino ang hakbang na baliktarin ang ruling ng panel chairperson, na si Senator Risa Hontiveros, sa pagtanggi ni Quiboloy na dumalo sa imbestigasyon ng Senado sa umano’y sexual abuses at human trafficking sa religious group.
“I think there is a group gathering the necessary signatures to thwart any attempt for the issuance of a warrant of arrest,” saad sa pahayag ni Tolentino nitong Miyerkules, Marso 6.
Kalaunan ay kinumpirma ito ni Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.
“According to Senator Robin (Padilla), kinausap ko siya, makakakuha daw siya ng majority of the committee members to overrule the order of the chairperson…Nag-usap kami kahapon sabi niya he will try to raise the signatures, meron daw siyang seven days. So let’s respect that,” saad sa hiwalay na pahayag ni Zubiri.
Bilang Senate president na pipirma sa kautusan, sinabi ni Zubiri na hihintayin niya ang Senate committee na ayusin ang naturang usapin bago magbigay ng mga komento sa posibilidad na paglalabas ng arrest warrant laban kay Quiboloy.
“I don’t want to comment at this point in time. I shall wait for that, he has seven days, it’s a committee matter, so I respect the committee on this… Right now, it’s a committee matter, it’s a committee issue, I will no longer– I cannot preempt the decision of the committee,” ayon kay Zubiri.
Kinumpirma rin ni Senador Imee Marcos ang hakbang ni Padilla at sinabing isa rin siya sa pumirma.
“Kami ni Senator Robin, talagang pipirma, nagkasundo kami kagabi na pipirma kami para ipaatras itong contempt order kasi parang ‘di naman s’ya tama,” ani Marcos.
Binanggit din niya ang posibilidad na suporta ni Senador Bong Go at Cynthia Villar. RNT/JGC
