“The United States stands with the Philippines and proponents of international law in support of a free abs open Indo-Pacific,” saad sa pahayag ni Carlson sa X.

Ayon sa Philippine officials, ang China Coast Guard (CCG) at Chinese Maritime Militia (CMM) vessels nitong Martes “harassed, blocked, deployed water cannons, and executed dangerous maneuvers in another attempt to illegally impede or obstruct” ang routine resupply at rotation mission sa BRP Sierra Madre sa Ayungin Shoal.

“Throughout the operation, the PCG vessels faced dangerous maneuvers and blocking from Chinese Coast Guard vessels and Chinese Maritime Militia,” ani Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Commodore Jay Tarriela sa X (dating Twitter).

“Their reckless and illegal actions led to a collision between MRRV-4407 and China Coast Guard 21555 that resulted to minor structural damage to the PCG vessel,” dagdag niya.

Samantala, ayon sa National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea: “The use of water cannons by the CCG vessels shattered the wind shield of Unaizah May 4, causing minor injuries to at least four personnel on board.”
