MANILA, Philippines – Inilunsad ng PAGASA ang bagong mobile application na PANaHON (PAGASA National Hydro-Meteorological Observing Network) upang magbigay ng halos real-time na impormasyon tungkol sa ulan, temperatura, heat index, at iba pang lagay ng panahon.
Inanunsyo ito noong Lunes bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Typhoon and Flood Awareness Week (June 14–20).
Ayon sa PAGASA, makatatanggap ang mga user ng agarang abiso tungkol sa tropical cyclone bulletins, thunderstorm at heavy rainfall warnings, at flood advisories.
“Users can receive timely notifications directly on their mobile device, including tropical cyclone bulletins, thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warnings, and flood advisories,” ayon sa PAGASA.
Sinabi ni PAGASA Information Officer Loren Joy Estrebillo na karamihan sa kanilang mga user ay gumagamit ng mobile phones para ma-access ang weather information.
“More than kalahati ng ating mga users ay gumagamit ng kanilang mobile phones to access the PAGASA website… almost 70% din po ng ating users gumagamit ng kanilang mobile phones.”
Mga pangunahing tampok ng PANaHON app:
-Location Feature – maaaring gamitin ang kasalukuyang lokasyon, mag-save ng paboritong lugar, at maghanap ng anumang lokasyon sa Pilipinas.
-Weather Outlook – may daily at hourly forecast at 5-day weather outlook para sa mga piling lungsod at tourist spots.
-Interactive Map – nagpapakita ng thunderstorm, heavy rainfall, tropical cyclone, at flood warnings gamit ang mga icon at radar/satellite images.
-Notification Alerts – nagbibigay ng real-time weather advisories batay sa lokasyon ng user.
Ayon kay Estrebillo, mas madali ring makita ang gridded forecasts at iba pang weather data dahil maaaring mag-zoom in at zoom out sa mapa.
“Magiging accessible din po ‘yung sa mobile app ‘yung gridded forecast… And for weather variables across the Philippines, enhanced po ‘yung accessibility since pwede po kayong mag-zoom in or zoom-out.”
Tiniyak din ng PAGASA na sumusunod ang app sa Data Privacy Act sa pagproseso ng impormasyon ng mga user.
Ang PANaHON app ay magsisilbing karagdagang platform para sa weather updates at forecast na maaaring gamitin ng publiko sa buong bansa. RNT/MND
