MANILA, Philippines – PINAIGTING ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang kampanya nito laban sa peke at illegally manufactured farm inputs kasunod ng kamakailan na operasyon sa Nueva Ecija.
Ayon sa DA, nagsagawa ang Talavera Municipal Police Station ng isang entrapment operation noong Hulyo 15 kasunod ng isang reklamo mula sa isang manufacturer ukol sa di umano’y pagbebenta ng ‘pekeng’ fertilizer products.
Nauwi ang operasyon sa pagkakatuklas ng isang hinihinalang unregistered warehouse at manufacturing facility sa Barangay Sta. Monica, Rizal, Nueva Ecija.
Sa dalawang magkahiwalay na operasyon, umabot sa 778 sako ng fertilizer ang nasamsam na tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng mahigit P748,000.
“Fertilizer is an investment for our farmers. When fake or substandard products are sold to them, it is not just their money that is lost. Their harvest and livelihood are at stake,” ang sinabi ni DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. sa isang kalatas.
“We will protect our farmers and legitimate businesses. We are directing the FPA to intensify market surveillance and enforcement against counterfeit, unregistered, adulterated, and illegally manufactured agricultural inputs,” dagdag na wika nito. KRIS JOSE
