MANILA, Philippines – Isinulong ni Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez ang isang panukalang batas na nagsusulong na ipagpaliban ang Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan Elections na nakatakda sa November 2, 2026.
Mungkahi ni Gomez na gawin ang eleksyon ng BSK sa huling Lunes ng November sa 2028 upang mas matiyak aniya ang kaayusan ng naturang halalan.
“I am hopeful that both the House of Representatives and the Senate will act decisively on this measure. When both chambers recognize the urgency of an issue, we move one step closer to meaningful and responsible legislation.”
Nais ni Gomez na mas mapayapa at matatag na integridad sa proseso ng eleksyon upang matiyak na nagagamit ng husto at maayos ang pondo ng gobyerno.
“The strength of our democracy is measured not by how quickly we hold elections, but by how credible, orderly, and inclusive those elections are. This is a measure that puts the national interest and the Filipino people first.”
Binanggit din sa House Bill No. 10591 ang epekto ng kasalukuyang pandaigdigang krisis sa enerhiya at sa malaking pagkakagastusan ng gobyerno. (Meliza Maluntag)
