MANILA, Philippines – WALANG masama sa pagkakasama ng Philippine Military Academy (PMA) at Philippine National Police Academy’s (PNPA) sa 2025 funding para sa education sector.
Sinabi ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin na mas lalong “unfair” kung i-itsapuwera o hindi isasama ang PMA at ang PNPA mula sa makakakuha ng share sa inilaan na 2025 budget para sa education sector lalo pa’t “the education responsibility has been shifted to other government agencies.”
“Alam ninyo, ‘yung language of the Constitution is not that specific, na sinabing education, you have to look at this in a broader understanding. If before, the treatment was ang budget ng education was only allocated to DepEd (Department of Education), that was the wisdom at that time,” ang sinabi ni Bersamin.
“Now, this is more a matter of looking at the situation. DepEd is not the only agency in the education sector, but it has the greater portion of the education pie, the budget for the education sector,” aniya pa rin.
Ang pahayag na ito ni Bersamin ay kasunod ng kritisismo sa pagkakasama ng PMA at PNPA sa P1.055-trillion funding para sa education sector para sa taong 2025.
Ang PMA ay nasa ilalim ng Department of National Defense, habang ang PNPA naman ay nasa ilalim ng Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Tinuran ni Bersamin na saklaw ng constitutional provision ang lahat ng antas sa edukasyon kabilang na ang Commission on Higher Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, at state universities and colleges.
“To claim na hindi mo dapat ibilang iyan sa education sector dahil nandoon sa PNP or ‘yung nandoon sa AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines), hindi maganda ‘yun,” ang sinabi ni Bersamin. Kris Jose
