MANILA, Philippines – Isinusulong ng Hepatology Society of the Philippines (HSP) ang pagtatatag ng isang national liver center upang mapabuti ang diagnosis, paggamot, at pagsasanay para sa mga sakit sa atay sa bansa.
Sa isang media roundtable sa Quezon City, sinabi ni HSP president Dr. Jennielyn Agcaoli-Conde na nakikipag-ugnayan sila sa gobyerno sa pamamagitan ng technical consultations upang maisakatuparan ang pasilidad. Aniya, nakabinbin pa sa Kongreso ang House Bills 3016 at 3600 na sumusuporta sa pagtatatag at pagpopondo ng liver center.
“We’re waiting na lang na ma-plenary siya, and hopefully ma-approve yung liver center… We need also from a Senate bill na magkaroon din ng establishment of a liver center,” ani Agcaoli-Conde.
Layunin ng panukalang pasilidad na maging specialized center na katulad ng Philippine Heart Center at National Kidney Transplant Institute, na tututok sa paggamot ng liver diseases, liver transplants, research, at training ng mga espesyalista.
“Kumbaga a national center that will deal with all liver diseases and I hope also yung liver transplant mag-move forward na rin dito sa country natin… a liver center is really a very good venue for research, registry and would deal for cases of patients with liver diseases,” dagdag niya.
Nakikipag-ugnayan din ang HSP sa Department of Health’s Health Facility Development Bureau upang tukuyin ang posibleng lokasyon, kabilang ang mga umiiral na DOH hospitals na maaaring italaga bilang Liver Center of the Philippines.
“I hope with the establishment of that liver center would really give us more updated incidents, prevalence of liver diseases, a center for training as well [because] most of the hepatologists or hepatobiliary surgeons natin or even transplant are trained in other countries,” ani Agcaoli-Conde.
Ayon sa HSP, magsisilbi ang liver center bilang one-stop facility para sa diagnosis, paggamot, research, at training, at naghahanap sila ng suporta mula sa Senate Committee on Health upang maisulong ang panukala. Santi Celario
