MANILA, Philippines- “The Senate and the House of Representatives should work together on urgent bills.”
Ito ang muling hiling ng mga mambabatas ng Kamara sa mga senador sa harap na rin ng kagustuhan na maipasa agad ang pag-amyenda sa Rice Tariffication Law(RTL) na magbibigay-daan para maibaba ang presyo ng bigas sa merkado.
“One thing that we should also look into is at least how the two bodies should work together,” pahayag ni Davao Oriental Rep. Cheeno Miguel Almario.
Ang RTL ay inaasahang maipapasa ng Kamara sa ikatlong pagbasa bago ang recess nito sa Mayo 22 subalit wala pa itong linaw sa Senado.
Tinukoy pa ni Almario ang pagpasa sa LEDAC priority measures ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na naipasa na sa Kamara subalit nakabinbin pa sa Senado.
“I’m very sure that whatever the request the Senator may have regarding a particular bill, be it a priority bill or not, the House is willing also to provide. So that at least both bodies can be on the same page and therefore fulfilling the initial purpose which is to pass a bill that is for the benefit of the Filipino people,” pahayag ni Almario.
Ipinunto din ni Deputy Speaker at Quezon Rep. David Suarez ang kahalagahan ng kolaborasyon ng Senado at Kamara. Aniya, maraming programa ang Marcos administration at maisasakatuparan lamang ito kung ang nga mahahalagang batas para dito ay maipasa ng Kongreso.
“Kaya siguro ang mahalaga po para sa atin ay to be united in this position because we’re all fighting for the same common cause and that’s the Filipino people. So, I hope we can put the leadership issue aside. I hope we can put politics aside and move forward with regards to the best interest of the Filipino,” ani Suarez.
Sinabi ni 1-Rider Party-list Rep. Rodge Gutierrez na hindi lamang LEDAC priority measures ang nakabinbin sa Senado kundi ilang mahahalagang panukala, isa na rito ang Motorcycle for Hire Bill na matagal nang pasado sa Kamara ngunit hindi pa rin gunagalaw sa Senado.
Para kay Lanao del Norte 1st District Rep. Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo, ang mabagal ba pagtugon ng Senado sa mga panukala ay hindi bunsod ng leadership issue kundi dahil sa politika.
Inihalimbawa ni Dimaporo ang pagpasa sa Marawi Compensation Bill (MCB) na agad na naipasa sa Senado dahil umano election year.
“They were somewhat pressured to pass the MCB and it became actually a law, because if they go to Marawi City and wala pang approval ng Marawi Compensation Bill, the ball is in their court, maraming magagalit sa kanila” paliwanag ni Dimaporo.
Apela ni Dimaporo sa Senado na may political pressure man o wala ay dapat magkasabay ang pagpasa ng mga panukalang batas ng Senado at Kamara.
“The Senate should get it done if it is matter of national urgency. Just like the HOR will work very hard to get things done for the benefit of the Filipino people and to ensure the success of the administration,” pagtatapos pa ni Dimaporo. Gail Mendoza
