MANILA, Philippines- Nagbigay si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ng P60 milyong tulong para sa mga biktima ng mga aktibidad ng Bulkang Kanlaon.
Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ng Office of Civil Defense (OCD) na nagbigay si Pangulong Marcos ng tig-P30 milyon para sa Canlaon City at Negros Oriental Province.
Ang pagturn-over ng tulong ay pinangunahan ni Special Assistant to the President Secretary Antonio Lagdameo Jr. sa isang miting kasama ang mga lokal na opisyal at mga kinatawan mula sa disaster management.
Ayon sa ulat, naharap sa matinding hamon ang Negros Oriental provincial government sa pagdeklara ng State of Calamity dahil sa legal restrictions dahilan para maapektuhan ang dalawang lungsod o munisipalidad.
Habang ang lokal na pamahalaan naman ng Canlaon City ay naiulat na makakukuha lamang ng suporta para sa internally displaced persons para sa tatlo hanggang apat na araw at ang naturang tulong ay mula sa national government.
“The city recommended that further funds be allocated specifically for response efforts affecting the six local government units involved. Current conditions were complicated by low signal bandwidth in Canlaon City, hindering communication and coordination efforts,” ayon sa OCD.
“Additionally, the Quick Response Fund (QRF) for Canlaon City was already depleting, impacting its ability to provide necessary support,” ayon pa rin sa nasabing ahensiya.
Sa kabilang ako, pinasalamatan naman ni OCD Central Visayas chief at Regional Task Force Kanlaon vice chairperson Joel Erestain si Pangulong Marcos para sa tulong para sa ‘displaced population.’
“This funding will significantly ease the burdens of those affected by the Kanlaon eruption, especially the IDPs who will spend the holiday season in evacuation centers. It is a crucial step in ensuring that our communities receive the support they need during this challenging time,” pahayag niya.
Winika pa ni Erestain na itinaas ng OCD Central Office ang fuel allocation para sa QRF sa P1 milyon kada buwan para suportahan ang pangangailangan ng Canlaon City.
“This fuel will be used for relief operations, including transportation, the use of heavy equipment for clearing operations, and generators. In total, this will provide approximately 4,450 liters of gasoline and around 13,350 liters of diesel,” aniya. Kris Jose
