MANILA, Philippines- Hinimok ng Buhay Ang People Power Campaign Network (BAPP), isang koalisyon na naglalayong panatilihin at gunitain ang 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, nitong Sabado na ipakita ang People Power sa May 2025 elections sa pamamagitan ng pagboto sa mga pinuno na nagsusulong ng demokrasya, human rights, at good governance.
“People Power reminds us that every Filipino has the power to change their situation, which is especially relevant today in the face of unprecedented corruption in the 2025 National Budget, brazen threats of violence and killing, and an all-out war between two elite factions that both ignore the needs of the people they’re supposed to serve,” pahayag ni Kiko Aquino Dee, Executive Director ng Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation at BAPP co-convenor.
“Let us exercise People Power through the ballot in the coming May elections by electing leaders who value democracy, human rights, and good governance and kicking out those who ignore their duties,” dagdag ni Dee.
Dumalo ang grupo sa isang misa sa EDSA Shrine upang simulan ang pagdiriwang ng ika-39 anibersaryo ng EDSA People Power Revolution.
Pinangunahan ni Father Flaviano Villanueva ang misa, kasama sina Father Manoling Francisco, at Father Robert Reyes.
Kabilang sa mga dumalo sina BAPP co-convenor at dating Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Quintos Deles, Akbayan Partylist first nominee Chel Diokno, ML Partylist third nominee Erin Tañada, dating Budget Secretary Butch Abad, at dating Senator Frank Drilon.
Magkakaroon din ng mga aktibidad sa mga susunod na araw para sa People Power Anniversary.
Gugunitain ng bansa ang ika-39 anibersaryo ng 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution sa February 25.
Tumagal ng apat na araw mula February 22 hanggang 25, tinapos ng People Power Revolution ang dalawang dekadang pamumuno ni dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos. RNT/SA
