MANILA, Philippines – Lalahok sa joint Exercise SAMASAMA sa Northern Luzon ang mga navy ng Pilipinas at lima iba pang bansa.
Nakadaong na sa Subic Bay sa Zambales ang mga warship ng Estados Unidos, Australia, Japan, Canada, at Pilipinas bilang paghahanda sa joint military exercise.
Samantala, ang United Kingdom ay magpapadala ng mga observer sa exercise na layong mapalakas ang
interoperability ng participating navies.
Kabilang sa drill ang paghahatid ng supplies sa mga barko sa military operations o sa panahon ng kalamidad.
Magtatapos naman ito sa joint sail sa dagat na sakop ng Northern Luzon.
“This is actually a six-nation exercise.. To develop skills, to develop the different logistics system, so that we could help each other…Everybody’s maritime interests are protected,” pahayag ni Commodore Edward de Sagun, Naval Forces North commander.
“We might not be going out of the territorial seas, but we will conduct it mostly in the northern part of Luzon,” dagdag niya.
Nauna nang binatikos ng China ang imbitasyon ng Pilipinas sa mga navy ng ka-alyado nito at sinabing mas lalo lamang nitong papatindihin ang tension sa West Philippine Sea.
“So we will execute that as much as possible. So some of the assets that we had hoped to send there, we couldn’t, but we could still have the training,” ayon naman kay Admiral Todd Cimicata, US Task Force 73 commander. RNT/JGC
