MANILA, Philippines – Pumanaw na ang Philippine eagle sa Bukidnon na si Sawaga-Dalwangan, habang sumasailalim sa rehabilitasyon, ayon sa anunsyo ng Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) nitong Sabado, Hulyo 18.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Philippine Eagle Sawaga-Dalwangan while undergoing rehabilitation at the Philippine Eagle Center,” saad sa pahayag ng PEF.
Si Sawaga-Dalwangan, na isang batang adult female, ay nasagip ng magsasaka mula sa tropa ng mahigit 30 unggoy sa Barangay Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, noong Hulyo 3.
Isinagawa ang initial necropsy habang nagpapatuloy naman ang histopathological examinations.
Ang consolidated report sa kanyang pagkamatay ay ilalabas sa oras na maisapinal na ang lahat ng test results.
“We share the grief of everyone who followed her journey and hoped for her recovery. Sawaga-Dalwangan’s rescue was not in vain, and the lessons from her case will help improve the care of other Philippine eagles,” sinabi ng PEF.
“We are deeply grateful to the Daraghuyan community, rescuer Marven Linoy and his companions, DENR, the Malaybalay City Government, the Provincial Zoo, the veterinary teams, and all partners who helped rescue and care for her,” dagdag pa. RNT/JGC
