MANILA, Philippines- Nagbuga ang Bulkang Mayonng 962 tonnes ng sulfur dioxide sa nakalipas na 24 oras, ayon sa Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) nitong Lunes.
Mas mataas ito kumpara sa 864 tonnes na naiulat nitong Linggo.
Sa pinakabagong bulletin, sinabi ng ahensya na nakapagtala ring ng 295 rockfall events, tatlong volcanic earthquakes, dalawang dome-collapse pyroclastic density current (PDC) events, at dalawang lava front collapse PDCs sa bulkan.
“Alert Level 3 is maintained over Mayon Volcano, which means that it is currently in a relatively high level of unrest as magma is at the crater and hazardous eruption within weeks or even days is possible,” anito.
“It is therefore recommended that the 6-km radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) be evacuated due to the danger of PDCs, lava flows, rockfalls and other volcanic hazards,” dagdag ng Phivolcs.
Naobserbahan din ang mabagal na pagdaloy lava mula sa crater sa Mi-isi gully na aabot ng 2.7 kilometro at sa Bonga gully na aabot naman ng hanggang 1.3 metro, base sa Phivolcs.
Nagbabala ang ahensya na posibleng magresulta ang malakas na pag-ulan sa channel-confined lahars at sediment-laden streamflow.
“Increased vigilance against pyroclastic density currents, lahars and sediment-laden streamflows along channels draining the edifice is also advised,” anang Phivolcs.
Mag-ingat din umano ang mga piloto at huwag lumapit sa tuktok ng bulkan dahil delikado ito.
Sa kasalukuyan ay mayroon nang 41,517 indibidwal o 10,652 pamilya sa 26 barangay sa Bicol ang apektado ng aktibidad ng Mayon, base sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) nitong Linggo. RNT/SA
