MANILA, Philippines – Isinusulong ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mas pinalakas na crime prevention sa mga paaralan sa pamamagitan ng mas aktibong pakikilahok ng sektor ng edukasyon sa values formation at peace and order awareness.
Ayon kay PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., mahalaga ang kasunduang nilagdaan ng National Police Commission (Napolcom) at Department of Education (DepEd) upang mapalakas ang papel ng mga paaralan sa paghubog ng disiplina ng kabataan at sa pagpapanatili ng kaligtasan ng komunidad.
“This collaboration is a strong step forward because it strengthens preventive approach in schools. It aligns education and law enforcement for a long-term impact, especially in preventing potential crimes involving the youth,” aniya.
Sa ilalim ng partnership, isasama sa mga paaralan ang safety awareness, anti-drug campaigns, at anti-bullying programs.
Binigyang-diin din ng PNP ang tumataas na pagkakasangkot ng kabataan sa petty crimes, online exploitation, at gang activity, kaya hinihikayat ang mga paaralan na maging mas maagap kaysa umasa lamang sa aksyon ng pulisya matapos ang insidente.
“We in the PNP believe that peace and order is not an exclusive job for the police, keeping the streets and communities safe requires a whole-of-community effort that includes our academic institutions,” dagdag ni Nartatez.
Plano rin ng PNP na palakasin ang presensya ng pulisya sa paligid ng mga paaralan, sanayin ang mas maraming opisyal sa child protection at crisis response, at palawakin ang youth engagement programs na sumasaklaw sa anti-drugs, anti-bullying, at online safety.
“We expect this to improve peace and order because the more we guide our youth properly, the lower the chance of youth involvement in violations of existing laws. Crime prevention also starts in schools, and this where we should focus in discipline and awareness,” aniya.
Binigyang-diin pa niya ang pangmatagalang layunin ng inisyatiba. “The long-term impact of this partnership is safer communities. Through this partnership, we will be more proactive instead of reactive in addressing threats to public safety.”
