MANILA, Philippines – Umapela si House Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. sa Philippine National Police (PNP) na palakasin ang presensya ng mga pulis sa Pampanga, partikular na sa kanyang distrito, makaraang makatanggap ng death threats ang isang barangay official sa San Fernando City.
Iniulat ni Gonzales nitong Sabado, Enero 4, ang insidenteng ito kay PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil kaugnay sa death threat na natanggap ni Barangay San Agustin Captain Amando Santos.
Bagamat nagpasalamat ito sa PNP sa agarang aksyon, sinabi ni Gonzales na maiiwasan ang mga karahasan sa mas pinaigting na police visibility at pagpapatrolya sa kanyang distrito at iba pang bahagi ng Pampanga.
“We wish our communities to be peaceful and violence-free. We don’t want any further harm on any of our local officials and constituents,” ani Gonzales.
“We have already lost six of them, including three barangay captains in San Fernando City, to assassins,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon kay Gonzales, sinabihan umano siya ni Marbil na nakausap na ni PNP Pampanga Provincial Office director Col. Jay Dimaandal si Santos kaugnay sa death threat na isinulat umano sa isang piraso ng papel na inilagay sa loob ng envelope.
May nakasulat din na cellphone number sa naturang papel.
Ani Marbil, “Santos attempted to contact and engage the provided cellphone number, but to no avail as it was offline.”
“As a result, the incident was recorded in the blotter of both the barangay and the police station of San Fernando City, Pampanga. Furthermore, tracking of the location and possible identification of the owner of the cellphone number is ongoing,” dagdag pa niya. RNT/JGC
