MANILA, Philippines – Nagpatupad ang Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) ng price freeze sa essential commodities sa dalawang bayan ng Oriental Mindoro dahil sa matinding epekto ng tagtuyot dulot ng El Niño phenomenon.
Sa pahayag na inilabas nitong Lunes, Marso 11, sinabi ng DTI na sakop ng price freeze ang mga munisipalidad ng Bulalacao at Mansalay, na nauna nang idineklarang nasa ilalim ng state of calamity dahil sa tagtuyot.
Ang automatic price freeze ay umepekto noong Pebrero 26 sa Bulalacao habang Marso 7 naman sa Mansalay.
Iiral ito ng 60 araw sakop ang basic necessities gaya ng canned fish, processed milk, coffee, laundry detergents, soap, bread, at bottled water.
Mahaharap sa P5,000 hanggang P1 milyong multa, at pagkakulong na hanggang 10 taon ang mga lalabag dito.
“In addition to these legal consequences, the DTI’s provincial monitoring and enforcement teams will intensify their efforts to monitor the pricing and availability of essential goods within the Department’s jurisdiction,” anang DTI.
“This measure is taken to ensure that businesses and establishments comply with the imposed price freeze,” dagdag pa ng ahensya.
Noong nakaraang linggo, iniulat ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) na tinatayang aabot sa P1.056 bilyon ang halaga ng total production loss at cost of damage sa agrikultura dahil sa El Nino. RNT/JGC
