THE Philippine National Police exists to serve and protect the people — not to serve political interests.
Its role in maintaining peace, enforcing the law and safeguarding communities is too important to be compromised by backdoor politics and power games.
Yet today, the integrity of the PNP is under silent attack — not by criminals on the streets, but by political operators lurking within the corridors of power.
Names like Pogi, Adrian, and even a top official in Malacañang have been whispered as figures meddling in PNP affairs — interfering in appointments, pushing for removals and manipulating leadership decisions for their own influence.
These people hold no rank in the police force, yet their hands reach deep into its command.
This political interference is not just demoralizing — it is dangerous. It sends the message that hard work, discipline and public trust mean nothing if you’re not aligned with the right political players.
The relief of Gen. Nicolas Torre III is a perfect example.
Torre had been performing exceptionally well — rebuilding public trust in the police, enforcing the law without spectacle and gaining the confidence of both his men and the communities they serve.
His removal, allegedly due to pressure from political insiders, was a blow not just to the PNP but to the credibility of the Marcos administration.
The President made the right decision in appointing Torre. But by allowing others to undermine that decision, he also allowed them to undermine him.
President Marcos must wake up. Every action taken by those around him will ultimately reflect on his leadership. He cannot afford to ignore how these operators are weakening institutions and discrediting his presidency from within.
The PNP deserves leadership free from political manipulation. The public deserves a police force they can trust. And the President deserves to know who’s really working for him—and who’s quietly tearing him down.
