MANILA, Philippines – Tiniyak ni House Majority Leader at Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos noong Biyernes, Enero 23, na hindi niya haharangin ang anumang impeachment complaint, kabilang na ang mga isinampa laban sa kanyang ama na si President Marcos.
Ito ay sa kabila ng paniniwala ni Rep. Marcos na wala umanong ginawang mali ang Pangulo.
“I will not be stopping or blocking any impeachment complaint,” pahayag ni Marcos sa sidelines ng isang speaking engagement sa Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
Dagdag pa niya, “Again, the President in Malacañang has stated that he is confident na wala naman siyang ginawang mali and I share the same sentiment.”
Noong Lunes, Enero 21, naghain si Lawyer Andre de Jesus ng kauna-unahang impeachment complaint laban sa Pangulo.
Sa ngayon, ito pa lamang ang impeachment case na opisyal na tinanggap ng House of Representatives.
Nagbigay ng pahayag si Rep. Marcos matapos ang mga alegasyong maaari niyang harangin ang pagre-refer ng reklamo sa Committee on Justice. Nilinaw niya na ang kapangyarihang mag-refer ng mga panukala sa plenaryo ay nasa Committee on Rules, na siya ang chair.
“We have to remind people, Congress is constitutionally-bound to hear these cases, for any one, any impeachable officer, whether that is the President or not. So sa mga nagsasabi na baka haharangin na yung impeachment or whatever, I cannot do that,” ani Marcos.
“I have to perform my duty as majority leader and perform my duty to the Constitution and my mandate,” diin ng 31-anyos na kongresista.
Dagdag pa niya, “That is to say that I cannot stop any impeachment complaint from being referred to the floor or to the Committee on Justice. We have to go through the process.” RNT/MND
