MANILA, Philippines – Inaresto ng National Bureau of Investigation, sa pakikipagtulungan sa Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), ang hindi pinangalanang direktor ng SEC na inakusahan ng pangingikil ng pondo mula sa isang pribadong korporasyon.
Hindi na nagbigay ng detalye ang SEC patungkol sa inarestong direktor para mapanatili ang integridad ng imbestigasyon at sinabing agad nitong inilagay sa preventive suspension ang naturang opisyal matapos ang entrapment operation.
“Rest assured, however, that operations in the SEC will carry on as usual and will be unhampered by this development,” ayon sa SEC.
Sinabi naman ni SEC chair Francis Lim na natanggap ng komisyon ang mga alegasyon laban sa opisyal na sangkot umano sa misconduct at breach of public trust seriously, at iginiit na hindi nito kukunsintihin ang mga ganitong gawain.
“As overseer of the corporate sector and regulator of the capital market, the commission maintains zero tolerance against unlawful practices within its walls and will not hesitate to take drastic actions against erring individuals from its ranks,” ani Lim. RNT/JGC
