SGVIL 2024, hahampas  na

Apat na laro ang sisiklab sa opening ng 2024 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League (SGVIL) na lalarga bukas (May 29) sa Adamson University Gym sa San Marcelino, Manila.

Maghaharap sa unang laro sa ika-walo ng umaga ang De La Salle-Lipa at Bethel Academy of General Trias, Cavite, susundan nang labanan ng defending champion California Academy at 12 noon; Bacolod kontra UST at 2 pm. at maglalaban sa main game at 4 pm ang Naga College Foundation at De La Salle-Zobel.

Sinabi ni Dr. Ian Laurel, president ng Athletics Events and Sports Management, organizer of the tournament, magiging exciting and interesting ang mga laro dahil lahat na kalahok ay iisa ang goal — ang mag champion sa second edition ng  tournament.

“I am pretty sure all the games will be exciting and challenging like in the first edition because all the participating teams have one thing in common to win the title,” pagsisiguro ni Laurel sa press conference ginawa sa Shakey’s sa Robinson Galleria.

Labing walong school sa Metro Manila, kalapit probinsiya  at koponan sa Bacolod ang kalahok sa tournament sinuportahan ng Philippine Sports Commission at Philippine Olympic Committee.

Sinabi ni Laurel na daragdagan nila ang mga kasaling koponan sa 2025 at bibigyan ang mga players mula sa  iba’t-ibang schools sa bansa ng pagkakataon na  ipakita ang kanilang natatanging galing  sa volleyball para mapansin ng mga national coaches.

“The main objective of this tournament is to give young volleyball players the chance and opportunity to showcase their god given talents and play for the country in international tournaments,” wika ni Laurel.

Sinabi ni Vic Gregorio, president of Shakey’s Pizza Asia Venture Incorporated, lifetime commitment ng kanilang food chain company tulungan ang tournament inorganisa ng ACES.

“This a lifetime commitment. We will give our unwavering and undying support to the tournament because our objective is to help volleyball grow, achieve milestone and our players gain international fame and bring honors to the country,” sabi ni Gregorio.

“What is memorable and meaningful because Shakey’s is celebrating its 50th year business in the Philippine next year,” dagdag ni Gregorio.

Ang mga kalahok ay Lyceum of the Philippine Cavite, Naga College, Adamson University, Arellano, Bacolod Tay Tung High School, Bethel Academy, defending champion California Academy, De La Salle Lipa, De La Salle Zobel, Chiang Kai Shek College, Emilio Aguinaldo College, FEU Diliman, Holy Rosary College, King’s Montessori School, National University, University of Santo Tomas, at UP Integrated School.

Ang labing walong koponan ay hahatiin sa apat na grupo at ang top two teams sa bawat grupo papasok sa quarterfinals,  semifinal at finals.
