FOLLOWING the recent hacking incident that targeted the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Division of Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco has expressed deep concern being House’s ICT committee chair.

“This breach not only compromises sensitive data but also endangers the critical services that our citizens rely on during times of crisis.”

Also, he said the implementation of the SIM Card Registration Act, with the aim of protecting Filipinos from text scams and other forms of telecom fraud, has been lacking.

“Scammers continue to exploit and victimize many Filipinos through text scams. We need strict and effective enforcement to curb these criminal activities and uphold the interests of our citizens,” he added.

                 Navotas inaugurates new infrastructure

City officials led by Mayor John Rey Tiangco inaugurated recently the newly-improved Lt. M. De Vera Street in Barangay Sipac-Almacen and the newly-constructed multi-purpose building at Navotaas Homes II – Tanza 2.

He emphasized the importance of these projects in fostering community development and improving the quality of life for Navoteños.

“Improving our city’s infrastructure is more than just building roads and buildings; it represents our vision for a progressive city where Navoteños can thrive and feel safe,” the mayor said.

                Five more pumping stations built

The Tiangco brothers – Mayor JRT and Congressman Toby – led the blessing and inauguration of five additional pumping stations as part of the 17th Cityhood Anniversary.

Navotas now has 81 strategically located pumping stations across the city.

The new pumping stations are in Kanduli, Martiniko, Mamale Site 8, and Mamale Alley in Barangay NBBS Dagat-dagatan and Takino Street in Barangay Bangkulasi.

The mayor cited the critical role of the new facilities in mitigating flood risks and ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.

“We urge our fellow Navoteños to help us in taking care of these facilities.”

The congressman echoed the mayor’s sentiments, emphasizing the crucial role of community engagement in flood control initiatives.

“Flood control is a shared community responsibility. While these pumping stations are integral to our infrastructure, their effectiveness hinges on collective action—ensuring their optimal function by refraining from littering and responsibly disposing of waste,” he said.
