MANILA, Philippines- Isinakdal ang lalaking hinihinalang pumatay kay Killua, ang tatlong taong gulang na golden retriever sa Bato, Camarines Sur, na matatandaang ikinagalit ng netizens at animal rights advocates, sa umano’y animal cruelty, ayon sa Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) nitong Biyernes.
Sa tatlong-pahinang resolusyon na ibinahagi ng PAWS, nakakita ang provincial prosecutors ng Camarines Sur ng probable cause upang kasuhan ang suspek sa umano’y paglabag sa Republic Act No. 8485 o ang Animal Welfare Act of 1998.
“The manner by which Killua was killed sustains a finding of probable cause to charge respondent for violation of the above-cited law,” saad sa resolusyong isinulat ni Prosecutor Wilhenry Villar.
“Being a barangay tanod, respondent should have looked for the owner of the dog and report the incident to the barangay. The dog may have caused trouble or inconvenience in the neighborhood and tested positive for rabies, but still there are proper and lawful ways to manage the situation. Subjecting Killua to such cruelty and maltreatment will never be justified,” dagdag pa rito.
Subalit, sinabi ng prosecutors na kulang ang ebidensya upang kasuhan ang suspek ng paglabag sa Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 sa umano’y pagkakasangkot naman nito sa bentahan ng karne ng aso.
“The fact that respondent owns a store selling viands and the allegation that the dog was found at the place of a certain Ibanez is not sufficient proof that respondent is engaged in the business of dog meat trading,” anila pa.
Noong Marso, nag-post ang dog owner na si Vina Rachelle Arazas sa social media upang ipanawagan ang hustisya sa pagkamatay ni Killua.
Batay sa CCTV footage, nakitang lumabas si Killua sa bahay lampas alas-5 ng umaga, araw ng Linggo. Inatake umano ng aso ang isang residente, dahilan upang habulin umano ng lalaki ang aso at saktan ito hanggang namatay ito.
Giit ng lalaki, kinagat ni Killua ang kanyang binti.
