Ito ang diretsang pahayag ni Leyte Rep. Romualdez kasunud ng pagdadawit sa kanya na tumanggap ng ilang maleta na naglalaman ng pera sa pagpapatuloy ng pagdinig ng
Senate Blue Ribbon Committee ukol sa anomalya sa flood control projects.
Ayon kay Romualdez lubha nyang ikinagulat ang mga alegasyon ng testigong iniharap ni Sen Rodante Marcoleta sa Senado.
Isa sa malinaw na imbento ayon kay Romualdez ay kung saan diumano dinala ang pera.
“The most telling flaw is the witness’ claim that deliveries were made to McKinley beginning December 2024. Imposible iyan. That property has been under renovation since January 2024 and was unoccupied except for construction workers. Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus—false in one thing, false in everything” nakasaad sa statement na ipinalabas ni Romualdez.
Aniya, ang testimonya sa Senado ah malinaw na produkto ng “coaching”.
“This is clearly political and the product of coaching. I will not allow these perjurious statements to pass unchallenged. Hindi ko ito palalampasin” giit nito.
Inulit ni Romualdez ang kanyang naunang pahayag na hindi ito kailanman kumita o nakatanggap ng kickbacks sa anumang infrastructure project.
“I have never authorized, instructed, or allowed anyone to engage in any conduct that would betray the people or taint my name” ani Romualdez.
I welcome a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation to expose these falsehoods. I voluntarily resigned as Speaker of the House of Representatives precisely to demonstrate my full support for the inquiry into flood control issues” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na nanahimik ito bilang pagrespeto sa proseso subalit idinadawit na ang kanyang pangalan at hindi nya ito palalampasin.
“I will fight back— not with rhetoric, but with evidence” paliwanag ni Romualdez.
Sinabi pa ni Romualdez na kaya nyang ibigay sa taumbayan ang “assurance” na hindi ito kailanman nagnakaw.
“Kahit kailan, hindi ako nagnakaw ng pondo ng bayan. Hindi ko kailangan ang perang galing sa masama” pagtatapos pa ni Romualdez. /Gail Mendoza
