VETERAN Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco has urged the public not to hesitate to report to the concerned authorities any pharmaceutical companies and drugstores that would not comply with the expanded value-added tax exemptions on essential drugs.

He’s right to say that the public must not ignore it if they would experience purchasing essential medicines without getting the lowered prices as mandated by a new law for the purpose.

“I am urging the public to report non-compliance of pharmaceutical companies and drugstores, especially with the Bureau of Internal Revenue through: [email protected].”

This as he welcomed the expansion of VAT exemptions on the essential medicines, saying it proves that the tax policies under the Marcos administration are delivering real and meaningful benefits to the Filipino people.

This came after the BIR announced that 19 more medicines have been added to the list of drugs exempted from VAT including those for cancer, diabetes, and other critical illnesses.

Navotas inaugurates Polytechnic College

Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Congressman Toby Tiangco led the blessing of new facilities at Navotas Polytechnic College, reinforcing the city’s commitment to free, quality education during its 18th Cityhood Anniversary.

Other newly elected city officials joined the inauguration of the new NPC, which now houses 28 classrooms, five computer laboratories, three science labs, a speech lab, a library, indoor and outdoor cafés, and a gymnasium.

“Mananatiling libre ang pag-aaral sa NPC. Hindi lang tayo nagtataas ng mga gusali, binubuo natin ang kinabukasan ng kabataan,” the mayor said.

The city chief executive stressed that education lays the groundwork for a stronger, more progressive Navotas.

“Holistiko ang ating pagtingin sa edukasyon—hindi lang ito tungkol sa pagtatapos o pagkakaroon ng diploma. Gusto nating hubugin ang mga Navoteñong may pagpapahalaga sa life-long learning at may tamang pagpapasya para sa sarili, pamilya, at komunidad,” he said.

Meanwhile, the long-time lawmaker echoed this vision, emphasizing that the city’s investments are designed for the long term.

“Hindi lang ito para sa kasalukuyan. Ito ay paghahanda para sa kinabukasan ng ating mga kabataan at ng ating lungsod.” “Sa bawat estudyanteng may natapos, may pamilyang umaangat, at may komunidad na mas umuunlad,” he added.
