"Ang mga local government units (LGUs) ay ang pundasyon ng pambansang kaunlaran." Ito ang pangunahing mensahe ni Senator Francis 'TOL' Tolentino sa LGUs na tumanggap ng Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) ngayong taon sa seremonya na ginanap sa Maynila.
MANILA, Philippines- Pinuri ni Senator Francis ‘TOL’ Tolentino ang mga tumanggap ng Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) ngayong taon at kinilala niya ang papel ng local government units (LGUs) bilang “pundasyon ng pambansang kaunlaran”.
“When our towns, cities, and provinces thrive, so does the Philippines,” sabi ni Tolentino na nanggaling din sa pagiging lokal na pinuno, sa kanyang talumpati sa SGLG national awarding ceremonies na ginanap sa Maynila.
“Through your efforts, you have set a standard of excellence that others should emulate, proving that effective leadership transforms lives and strengthens communities,” ang sabi ng dating three-term mayor ng Tagaytay City at dating pangulo ng League of Cities of the Philippines.
“As a nation, it is our duty to value and honor such accomplishments,” dagdag niya. “Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines). One that uplifts every citizen and ensures a brighter future for generations to come.”
Sa kanyang bahagi, sinabi naman ni DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, dating gobernador ng Cavite, na tinularan niya ang estilo ng pamumuno ng noo’y Tagaytay City Mayor sa una niyang pagpasok sa serbisyo publiko noong dekada ’90.
Pinuri ni Remulla si Tolentino sa ginawang pagbabago sa Tagaytay bilan isang pangunahing destinasyon ng mga turista.
Sa 714 LGU na tumatanggap ng SGLG ngayong taon, 41 ang probinsya, 96 ang lungsod, at 577 ang munisipalidad.
Kasama na rito ang ilang Cavite LGUs, kinabibilangan ng mga lungsod ng Tagaytay, Cavite, Dasmariñas, General Trias, Trece Martires, Imus, at ang mga munisipalidad ng Alfonso, General Mariano Alvarez, Indang, Maragondon, Mendez, at Rosario.
Ang mga kategorya ng pamamahala na tinasa para sa SGLG ay ang mga sumusunod: financial administration and sustainability; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace, and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture and arts; and youth development.
