Traffic violators malapit sa La Salle Green Hills sosolusyunan ng MMDA

MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Don Artes nitong Miyerkules, Agosto 20 na magpapatupad ito ng mas mahigpit na hakbang laban sa mga traffic violator sa bisinidad ng La Salle Green Hills sa Ortigas Avenue.

Aniya, hindi na sapat na pagmultahin lang ang mga ito sa paglabag sa lugar.

Ang pahayag ni Artes ay kasunod ng pagsulat ng MMDA sa administrasyon ng La Salle Green Hills nitong Martes para solusyunan ang matinding trapiko na dulot ng mga pribadong sasakyan at mga student service malapit sa paaralan.

“We’ll find drastic measures perhaps… Because sometimes the traffic there even reaches as far as Cainta, Rizal,” sinabi ni Artes matapos na inspeksyunin kasama si San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora ang nagpapatuloy na operasyon ng ‘Bayanihan sa Estero’ program sa Lambingan Bridge sa San Juan River.

Sinabi rin ni Artes na nagkaroon ng mga dialogue ang MMDA at La Salle Green Hills kasama ang iba pang lugar para solusyunan ang mga trapiko sa lugar at maglagay ng CCTV para sa No Contact Apprehension Policy.

“After that, the situation worsened because we issued even more tickets. We observed that despite the penalties and the installation of CCTV cameras, those dropping off and picking up students still occupy almost all the lanes. It really causes disruption,” sinabi pa ni Artes.

“It’s no longer just slowing down traffic — it’s already causing a complete blockage, with almost no vehicles able to pass. Some people have even complained that just crossing from the other side of EDSA takes them hours,” dagdag pa niya.

Ayon sa MMDA, nasa 1,500 traffic violation tickets na ang naisyu sa bisinidad ng paaralan mula Hulyo hanggang Agosto ngayong taon.

Sinisiguro ni Artes na ang mga ticket ay ipinadadala sa mga may-ari ng sasakyan upang maunawaan ang parusa sa kanilang mga naging aksyon.

Sa kabila nito, sinabi ng MMDA chair na patuloy pa rin ang mga paglabag sa lugar sa kabila ng pag-iisyu ng mga tiket.

“I just don’t know if they can afford to pay, which is why they don’t care, or if the parents themselves are unaware because it’s only the drivers who are behind the wheel,” ayon kay Artes.

“We are still looking for solutions. If penalties alone are not enough—perhaps because they can afford to pay—we will consider other measures to restore order along Ortigas.” RNT/JGC
