MANILA, Philippines- Dapat ng asahan ng power consumers sa iba’t ibang panig ng Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao grids ang mas mababang singil sa kuryente ngayong buwan matapos ianunsyo ng National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) ang double-digit reduction sa transmission charges nito.
Sa isang press conference sa San Juan City, araw ng Miyerkules, sinabi ni NGCP head of Revenue Management Julius Ryan Datinggaling na ang overall transmission rate nito ay bumaba ng 43.36 sentimo o 28.45% hanggang P1.0904 per kilowatt (kWh) mula sa P1.5240 kada kWh month-on-month.
Ang pagbaba ay bunsod ng pagkabawas sa kapwa transmission wheeling rate at ancillary services (AS) rate, tinukoy ang pagganda ng grid situation sa likod ng mas mababang demand dahil sa mas mababang kondisyon ng mainit na panahon.
Partikular na rito, nirolbak (rolled back) ng NGCP ang wheeling rate nito, kung anuman ang sinisingil para sa pangunahing serbiyo nito na paghahatid ng suplay ng kuryente sa distribution utilities at electric cooperatives, ng 16.35% hanggang P0.4605 kada kWh mula P0.5505 per kWh.
Samantala, ang AS rate ay tinapyasan ng 36.07% hanggang P0.5175 kada kWh mula P0.809 kada kWh.
“AS rate pertains to the pass-through costs for power supplied by AS providers, with bilateral contracts with NGCP, and from the reserve market to stabilize the grid during power supply-demand imbalances,” ayon sa ulat.
Ang AS ay nagsisilbi bilang available generation capacity para sa pagdi-dispatch ng contingency sakaling may mangyaring problema sa transmisyon o power generation.
“It forms part of the total electricity bill as AS charge, which covers the expenses for grid stability and reliability, and is directly remitted to generating companies by the NGCP,” ayon pa rin sa ulat.
“For the May 2025 electric bill of the end consumers, NGCP charges only 46 centavos per kWh for the delivery service,” ang inihayag ni Datinggaling sabay sabing, “AS still accounts for the bulk of transmission charges.”
Ipinaliliwanag ng grid operator na ang AS charge ay isang pass-through cost, at hindi ito kumikita o walang benepisyo mula sa paggalaw ng presyo.
Ang paliwanag Datinggaling, “the overall transmission it will be charging will be uniform across distribution utilities and electric cooperatives across the three main power grids.”
Samakatuwid, ang Manila Electric Company ay magro-roll back ng household rate na 75 sentimo kada kWh dahil sa mas mababang generation at transmission charges. Kris Jose
