BEIJING- Nanawagan ang Chinese state media nitong Miyerkules sa Pilipinas na alisin ang Typhon intermediate range missile ng Estados Unidos sa South China Sea, sinabing ilang ulit na umanong binali ng Pilipinas ang pangako nito sa pamamagitan ng missile system.
“The region needs peace and prosperity, not intermediate range missiles and confrontation,” ayon sa pahayagan ng governing Communist Party, People’s Daily, sa isang komentaryo. “The Philippines has repeatedly gone back on its word and acted in bad faith… initially promising that it was only a temporary deployment and that the system would be withdrawn,” dagdag nito.
Hindi agad nagkomento ang Philippine Embassy sa Beijing ukol dito.
Wala pa ring pahayag ang Malacañang, Department of National Defense (DND), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), at Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) hinggil sa usapin.
Noong nakaraang buwan, sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na handa siyang alisin ang Typhon missiles sa bansa kung ititigil umano ng China ang agresyon nito sa West Philippine Sea.
“Let’s make a deal with China: Stop claiming our territory, stop harassing our fishermen and let them have a living, stop ramming our boats, stop water cannoning our people, stop firing lasers at us, and stop your aggressive and coercive behavior, and I’ll return the Typhon missiles. Itigil nila ‘yung ginagawa nila, ibabalik ko lahat ‘yan,” giit ni Marcos.
Matatandaang naiulat ng Reuters na sinabi ng isang senior Philippine government source na inilipat ng US military ang Mid-Range Capability (MRC) missile system nito mula Laoag Airfield patungo sa isa pang site sa Luzon.
Nauna nang inihayag ng Philippine Army na hindi gagamitin ang Typhon launchers sa gaganaping military drills. RNT/SA
