MANILA, Philippines- Nais ni reelectionist Senator Francis Tolentino na makakita ng kumpleto nang Code of Conduct sa South China Sea na magpapatibay sa United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) at sa 2016 Arbitral Award.
Tinatalakay ng China at ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) ang substantive COC, magsisilbing alituntunin upang pangasiwaan ang tensyon sa pagitan ng claimant states sa pinagtatalunang sea lane.
“Let it be a code of conduct compliant with the law of the sea convention. Let it be a code of conduct that would support and uphold the 2016 Hague arbitral ruling. And let it be a code of conduct that would support the Philippine maritime zones law,” giit ni Tolentino sa Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas press conference sa Batangas City nitong Sabado.
Nauna nang kinumpirma ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo na kapwa ang China at ang Association of Southeast Asian Nations ay “politically committed” na matapos ang code sa 2026. RNT/SA
