VP Sara bukas sa pagdalo sa sunod na pagdinig sa pag-aresto sa kanyang ama

MANILA, Philippines- Bukas si Vice President Sara Duterte na dumalo sa mga napipintong pagdinig ukol sa pag-aresto sa kanyang ama na si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Sinabi ni VP Sara na inimbitahan siya ni Senator Imee Marcos na dumalo sa mga pagdinig kung saan siya ang namumuno bilang chairperson ng Senate committee on foreign relations.

Balik-Pinas na si VP Sara matapos ang mahigit tatlong linggo na nasa Netherlands para magbigay ng tulong sa kanyang ama na nakaditine sa The Hague.

Nakiisa si VP Sara sa unang Senate hearing noong March 20 via video conferencing platform subalit hindi nakadalo sa ikalawang hearing noong nakaraang linggo, April 3, dahil sa “hectic” schedule at dahil sa time difference sa pagitan ng Manila at Netherlands.

“Pero kung meron namang future hearings na meron silang tanong sa akin, tulad ng kung anong nangyari sa Hong Kong or anong nangyari pagdating ni Pangulong Duterte sa Manila, willing naman po ako sumagot,” ang sinabi ni VP Sara.

“I am open in the future hearings in the event that she (Imee Marcos) needs my input in the committee hearings that she is conducting in the Senate,” dagdag na wika nito.

Nauna rito, kinumpirma ng Malakanyang ang pagdalo ng ilang executive officials sa susunod na Senate hearing hinggil sa pag-aresto kay dating Pangulong Duterte sa April 10.

Sa katunayan, inisa-isa ni Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro na dadalo sa susunod na Senate hearing:

• Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin ”Boying” Remulla;

• Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon;

• Chief State Counsel Dennis Arvin Chan;

• Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo;

• Philippines Center on Transnational Crime executive director Anthony Alcantara;

• Philippine National Police chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil;

• PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Major General Nicolas Torre III;

• Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac;

• special envoy Markus Lacanilao;

Matatandaang nanindigan si Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin na saklaw ng executive privilege ang ilang mga gabinete na hindi na sumipot sa pagdinig ng Senado  hinggil sa umano’y ilegal na pag-aresto kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, araw ng Huwebes, Abril 3, 2025.

Sa isang panayam, sinabi ni Bersamin na ang mga paksang tinalakay umano sa Senado ay sakop ng executive privilege sa pagitan nina Pangulong Marcos, Jr. at ilang mga gabinete.

“When we learned about the topics, kasi ‘yung invitation ni Sen. Imee was quite specific about the topics. So, we had a look at this invitation and we determined that there were many probable or likely topics na covered by those matters that could come under ‘yung executive privilege,” ani Bersamin.

Dagdag pa niya, mas mainam daw na maaga silang sumulat sa hindi pagdalo ng ilang miyembro ng gabinete.

“So it was best to get ahead with a letter to the Senator and the Senate President so that they would be formally informed that in that hearing, our Cabinet secretaries and other executive officers will be not forced to respond to questions concerning these matters. That’s the essence,” anang executive secretary. Kris Jose
