MANILA, Philippines – “No one should be above traffic crisis.”
Ito ang ipinahayag ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez kasabay ng papuri kina Pangulong Bongbong Marcos at House Speaker Martin Romualdez na ipinqgbabawal ang paggamit ng sirena at 8 plates.
Ayon kay Rodriguez ang paggamit ng mga ganitong special plates, police escorts at sirena ay simbolo ng kapangyarihan na hindi katanggap-tanggap.
“Let us have a level playing field in suffering the terrible traffic situation. All officials must go early to their appointments taking into account the traffic. No one should be above the traffic crisis,” ani Rodriguez.
Aniya, arogante ang mga opisyal na gagamit ng ganitong mga sirena at special plates.
Pinaalala nito sa mga kapwa public officials na public interest at hindi personal interest amg mangibabaw sa pagganap sa kanilang tungkulin.
“We are not leading or living modest lives if we demand that we should be entitled to certain privileges as public servants,” dagdag pa nito.
Ipinanukala ni Rodriguez na tanging President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives at Chief Justice ng Supreme Court ang makakagamit ng protocol plates.
Habang ang mga miyembro ng Congress, Cabinet members at iba pang opisyal ay gagamit lang ng regular plates.
“I have never used No. 8 since I became a congressman in 2007. I could not understand why many officials, including undersecretaries, judges, and prosecutors, are using low-numbered plates,” paliwanag pa ng solon
Una nang sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez sa ipinalabas na advisory na alinsunud sa Executive Order (EO) No. 56 na ipinalabas ni Pangulong Marcos ay hindi awtorisado ang mga kongresista na gumamit ng protocol ‘8’ plates. Gail Mendoza
