MANILA, Philippines – PUMAYAG ang Tsina na ayusin ang umiiral nitong bilateral communication mechanism sa Pilipinas sa usapin ng West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Kinumpirma ni Lin Jian, tagapagsalita para sa Foreign Ministry ng Tsina na ang naturang pagsisikap ay isinagawa sa idinaos na ninth Bilateral Consultation Meeting (BCM) sa pagitan ng mga diplomats mula sa magkabilang panig sa Maynila noong Hulyo 2.
Bagama’t hindi naman idinetalye ni Lin kung paano sumang-ayon ang Tsina at Pilipinas na ayusin ang mekanismo, Winika nito na ang dalawang bansa ay “agreed to further enhance communication and dialogue between diplomatic and coast guard agencies, so as to jointly keep the maritime situation and the overall bilateral relationship stable.”
Ang pahayag na ito ni Lin ay matapos na maiulat na may isang direct communication ang maaaring gawin sa pinakamataas na antas partikular na sa presidential at foreign ministry levels, sa panahon ng kasagsagan ng tensyon sa karagatan.
Ang bagong kasunduan ay tinawag na “Arrangement on Improving Philippines-China Maritime Communication Mechanisms.”
“China is always committed to properly handling maritime issues with the Philippines through dialogue and consultation,” ayon kay Lin.
“At the ninth meeting of the China-Philippines Bilateral Consultation Mechanism on the South China Sea held earlier this month, the two sides talked about improving the maritime communication mechanism between the two countries,” dagdag na wika nito.
Nito lamang Hulyo 3, sinabi ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na ang diplomats mula sa Pilipinas at Tsina ay sumang-ayon na palakasin at ayusin ang komunikasyon kaugnay sa South China Sea.
Sa naturang miting, nagkaroon ng ‘frank at constructive decision’ sina DFA Undersecretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro at Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong ukol sa kani-kanilang mga pananaw sa alitan sa karagatan.
