MANILA, Philippines – Nasamsam ng anti-agricultural smuggling arm ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang ₱38 milyon halaga ng mga sako ng bigas sa isang warehouse sa Talisay City, Cebu.
Kimilos agad ang Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage (AAES) Council matapos maglabas ang Executive Committee ng letter of authority na nag-aatas sa enforcement group (EG) na inspeksyunin ang mga warehouses sa Kimba Compound na nag-iimbak umano ng mga puslit na agricultural products.
Ang EG ay kinabibilangan ng Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) at Maritime Group (MG).
Nadiskubre ng enforcement group sa lugar na pag-aari ng River Valley Distribution Inc. (RVDI) ang 26,526 sacks ng bigas.
Agad naglabas ang Court of Tax Appeals ng seizure order laban sa mga sako ng bigas.
“The goods were inspected, examined and found to be illegal. This decisive action sends a strong and clear message to economic saboteurs: the government stands united and shall be relentless in its efforts against such illegal activities,” ani AAES Council Chairperson Frederick Go.
