MANILA, Philippines – Nasa kabuuang 145 empleyado ng Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC-13) ang nakatanggap na ng kanilang retirement pay, mahigit dalawang dekada nang umalis sila sa state-run media firm, sinabi ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) nitong Sabado, Mayo 4.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng PCO na inabot ng 22 taon at 28 management teams ang korporasyon bago nailabas ang retirement pay na nagkakahalaga ng P500 milyon.
Nasa 25 retirees na ang pumanaw bago nila matanggap ang kanilang retirement pay.
Karamihan sa mga nalalabing retirees ay naka-maintenance na sa gamot o kaya naman ay may mga sakit na, habang ang iba ay “gravely ill,” sinabi ni IBC-13 president at CEO Jimmie Policarpio.
“The President gave the instruction to help resolve their claims, as addressing the welfare of media workers is one of the cornerstones of his administration and of the PCO. So it is a great honor for me to be able to be part of this much-awaited and much-deserved awarding of benefits to our colleagues in the media,” pahayag ni PCO Secretary Cheloy Garafil sa kanyang speech sa awarding ceremony nitong Biyernes, Mayo 3.
Ani Policarpio, nasa 200 pamilya ang makikinabang sa paglalabas ng retirement pay.
“With spirits of thanksgiving, they can now look forward to enjoying their waning years with dignity and pride in having served God, country, and people,” ayon sa pamunuan ng IBC-13.
Ang IBC-13, kasama ng Peoples Television Network at Presidential Broadcast Service-Bureau of Broadcast Services, ay bumubuo sa media arm ng PCO. RNT/JGC
