WHAT a feat for a young educational institution!

The Legal Education Board (LEB) has recognized the University of Caloocan City-College of Law (UCC-COL) as one of the top performing law schools nationwide, extra-jubilant Mayor Dave ‘Along’ Gonzalo Malapitan revealed.

The youthful Malapitan said the UCC-COL emerged Number 6 Overall in the 11-34 First Time Takers Category for the 2024 Bar Examinations.

With a 60 percent overall passing rate in 2024’s bar exams, well above the national passing rate of 37.84 percent, the UCC-COL maintained its excellent performance and produced 12 new homegrown lawyers.

He congratulated the whole UCC-COL community as he reiterated his commitment to invest in opportunities which would provide a bright future not only for individual students but also for the city as a whole.

Malapitan has been hugely credited especially by the academe and other non-government organizations for various programs his administration has been implementing for the education sector particularly for its locally-subsidized university (UCC).

A brainchild of the mayor’s father and now District 1 Rep. Oscar Malapitan, the UCC-College of Law was established in 2017 primarily aimed at making quality legal education accessible to the poor.

“Our very own UCC-COL also aims for sustainable development of the law and the administration of justice from the city to the country,” said the younger Malapitan as he encouraged its law students to continue making the city proud of them by passing the bar examinations, among others.

He said it would be “most welcome” if those that would graduate from UCC-COL and eventually hurdle the bar exams would decide to work with the city government to serve the residents.

30 new motorcycle units for Caloocan police

The Caloocan mayor has turned over some 30 motorcycle patrol units to the local police to make it more effective in responding to emergencies and in maintaining public safety.

Late last year, the Malapitan administration provided three brand new specialized trucks to its Special Weapons and Tactics Team.

Now more than ever, he said the partnership between the city government and the city police must be strengthened as he committed to consistently upgrade the capabilities of the police force.

“Ang hiling ko lang, magtuloy-tuloy ang inyong mahusay at epektibong pagkilos para mapanatiling payapa ang ating mga komunidad para sa mga Batang Kankaloo,” he said.
