TIANGCO TO NBI: FOLLOW UP RED NOTICE REQUEST FOR ZALDY CO

VETERAN Navotas City Representative Toby Tiangco has offered unsolicited advice to the National Bureau of Investigation – send a high-level delegation to the International Criminal Police Organization headquarters in France to directly follow up its request for a red notice for former Ako Bicol congressman Zaldy Co.

The legislator, the first government official or member of the House of Representatives who exposed irregularities allegedly involving Co and ex-House Speaker Martin Romualdez, believed that it would be high time for the Philippine government to send a high-level team, specifically the NBI, to the Interpol headquarters.

“By doing so, we could check what happened with the earlier request for red notice. Our concerned law enforcement agencies must be determined and aggressive in hunting down Zaldy Co, who is already a fugitive from justice.”

Tiangco used to be allied with the majority bloc at the lower chamber but he decided to part ways early last year after reportedly uncovering alleged anomalies particularly on budget allocations which were said to be involved Co and Romualdez.

Co is facing charges of corruption and malversation of public funds in relation to an alleged P289.5-million anomalous road dike project in Oriental Mindoro. He’s also facing plunder charges filed by the NBI.

‘Attack crocodile’

Tiangco could only say that he’s honored to be criticized by those “protecting, defending and praising Romualdez” in obvious reference to Manila Rep. Benny Abante.

“Obvious naman na attack crocodile siya (Abante).”

“Pilit nating binubuhay ang isyu dahil hanggang ngayon wala pang big fish na napapanagot pagdating sa mga bogus na flood control projects at maanomalyang insertions na nangyari sa 2025 budget,” he said.

Green Legacy Award inductee

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources–National Capital Region has conferred the Green Legacy Award to the City of Navotas in recognition of the city’s continuous contribution and partnership in advancing environmental protection and restoration programs.

DENR-NCR recognized the city’s Environment and Natural Resources Office as one of the inductees of the Green Legacy Awards for its ongoing contributions and collaboration in implementing environmental programs, particularly in coastal and urban environmental management, solid waste management, and community engagement.
