GUARDIANS AGAINST CRIME IN NEGROS REGION

THE men and women of the Police Regional Office Negros Island are proving that lawless elements have no safe haven in the region.

In barely more than a week under the leadership of PRO-NIR director PBGen. Romano Cardiño, the police force has already delivered significant accomplishments that deserve public recognition and support.

The latest success was the arrest of a high-value drug suspect in Bacolod City and the seizure of more than P28 million worth of shabu.

Such an operation is not merely about statistics. It represents lives protected, communities secured, and families spared from the destructive effects of illegal drugs.

The professionalism shown by the region’s cops, including the use of body-worn cameras and adherence to legal procedures, reflects a disciplined and accountable police organization.

This operation came shortly after another major accomplishment involving the confiscation of millions worth of illegal cigarettes, showing that the campaign against criminality under Cardiño’s leadership is both aggressive and consistent.

These early victories send a strong message that the police regional office is serious in dismantling illegal activities across Negros Island.

However, the fight against crime cannot rest on the police alone. Public cooperation remains essential.

Communities must continue providing information, supporting lawful operations and rejecting the culture of silence that allows criminals to thrive.

When citizens and law enforcers work together, criminal elements lose their power and influence.

The recent accomplishments of PRO-NIR should inspire confidence among Negrenses.

They demonstrate that committed leadership, disciplined police work and community partnership can produce real results.

The battle against illegal drugs and other crimes remains difficult, but these operations prove that the law is moving decisively against those who threaten peace and public safety in the region.
