MANILA, Philippines – Nagkaisang kinondena ng mga mambabatas ang marahas na pag atake ng China Coast Guard (CCG) laban sa isang Philippine Navy sailor malapit sa BRP Sierra Madre sa Ayungin Shoal, West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Mariing kinondena ng House Young Guns na kinabibilangan nina Deputy Speaker Paolo Ortega V, Deputy Speaker Jay Khonghun, Rep. Ernix Dionisio, at Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong ang naganap na karahasan.
“Tinitindigan namin ang karahasan na ito! Hindi ito tama!” pahayag ng grupo.
Sinabi pa nila na hindi dapat nararanasan ng isang Pilipino ang ganitong klaseng karahasan sa loob mismo ng Exclusive Economic Zone ng bansa.
Idiniin ng House Young Guns na taliwas sa internasyonal na batas ang ginawang aggression.
“We call on China to immediately stop these dangerous acts that endanger lives and threaten regional stability,” dagdag pa ng grupo.
Kinundena rin ni Pinoy Workers party-list Rep. Karl Fernandez Legazpi ang pinakabagong pananalakay ng CCG.
“No Filipino serviceman should have to suffer violence for simply doing his duty of protecting our country’s sovereign rights. We strongly condemn any act that puts the lives and safety of our uniformed personnel at risk,” ani Legazpi sa isang pahayag.
Binanggit ni Legazpi na naunang inihain na House Resolution No. 1122 na humihiling na magkaroon ng congressional inquiry sa deployment ng China ng mga floating structure sa loob ng exclusive economic zone ng bansa.
Nanawagan naman si Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers sa Kongreso na patuloy na bigyang-priyoridad ang modernisasyon ng Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, at iba pang maritime agencies.
“Our frontliners should never be left vulnerable while defending our country’s lawful maritime interests. Investing in maritime security is not optional, it is a national imperative,” giit ni Barbers.
Pinuri rin nito ang disiplina at propesyonalismo ng mga tauhan ng Philippine Navy sa harap ng insidente.
“Despite the danger they faced, our servicemembers reportedly exercised restraint and remained focused on their mission. Their courage, composure, and unwavering sense of duty embody the finest traditions of military service and deserve the gratitude and admiration of the Filipino people,” pahayag ni Barbers.
Hinamon din ni Barbers ang international community na magkaisang tumutol sa mga aksyong nagbabanta sa freedom of navigation at regional stability.
“Silence in the face of intimidation only emboldens those who believe force can prevail over law. The preservation of peace in the West Philippine Sea is a shared responsibility that demands collective resolve and principled action,” ani Barbers.
Ayon sa ulat, isang rigid-hull inflatable boat ng CCG na may walong personnel ang lumapit at umikot sa BRP Sierra Madre habang kumukuha ng litrato at video, umigting ang sitwasyon nang hampasin ng isang CCG personnel ang ulo ng isang walang-armas na Navy sailor gamit ang kahoy na baton na nagresulta ay malubhang sugat sa ulo ng biktima at pinsala sa rubber boat ng Navy.
