MANILA, Philippines – Nag-isyu ng warrant of arrest ang Sandiganbayan laban kay Uswag Ilonggo party-list Rep. James “Jojo” Ang kaugnay sa 14 graft cases na inihain laban sa kanya sa kaugnayan umano sa isang government contractor.
Nag-isyu ang Third Division ng arrest warrant dalawang araw matapos na iugnay si Ang ng Office of the Ombudsman indicted Ang sa 14 counts ng graft sa pagkakaugnay sa isang construction firm na nanalo ng P214 milyon ng kontrata sa DPWH.
“After a careful review of the resolution and its supporting documents, as well as the records, the court finds that probable cause exists in this case, pursuant to the Rules of Criminal Procedure. Accordingly, let a warrant of arrest be issued against accused James Ang, Jr.,” sinabi ng Sandiganbayan.
“Let a Hold Departure Order (HDO) be issued against the accused,” dagdag pa.
Ang graft ay isang bailable offense.
Dahil dito ay maaaring makakuha ng pansamantalang kalayaan si Ang kung makakapagpiyansa ito ng P30,000 sa bawat counts ng graft na isinampa laban sa kanya.
Itinanggi naman ni Ang ang mga alegasyon.
“My conscience is clear. I am confident that I will be able to clear my name soon. My resolve for truth to come out is stronger and clearer,” anang mambabatas.
“In my three years in public service, I have never used my position in the government for my own interest and to profit in any way. I hold the trust of the Ilonggos strongly, and will never betray the faith of my kasimanwas in me as their representative in Uswag Ilonggo party-list since 2022,” dagdag pa niya.
Bukod kay Ang, sinampahan din ng reklamo ng Ombudsman si dating Sultan Kudarat 2nd District Rep. Arnulfo Go at tatlo iba pa ng two counts ng graft at two counts ng malversation cases kaugnay pa rin sa maanomalyang flood control projects.
