MANILA, Philippines – Itinanggi ni Sen. Loren Legarda ang mga alegasyon ng graft at plunder laban sa kanya at sa kanyang anak na si Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste kaugnay ng umano’y “ghost electricity” issue.
Ayon kay Legarda, wala pa silang natatanggap na anumang komunikasyon mula sa Office of the Ombudsman tungkol sa iniulat na preliminary investigation.
“We have not received any communication from the Office of the Ombudsman regarding the reported preliminary investigation but I can categorically state that the reported accusations are utterly false and baseless. No public funds were involved. We are prepared to bring out the truth,” sabi ni Legarda.
“All my public life since 1998, I have always upheld my integrity, which I value dearly. This baseless allegation is a smear on my person that is totally undeserved,” dagdag pa niya.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla na umabot na sa preliminary investigation stage ang mga reklamong plunder at graft laban kina Legarda at Leviste.
Ayon kay Remulla, ang reklamo ay may kinalaman sa P10 bilyon, ngunit maaaring umabot sa daan-daang bilyong piso ang naging pinsala sa mga Pilipino.
Hinikayat din ni Legarda ang publiko na maging mapanuri at sinabi: “We remain confident that once the facts are laid bare, we will be vindicated and our names cleared.” RNT/MDS
